Project Overview
The project focuses on modernizing three irrigation and drainage systems: Kara-Unkur in Djalal-Abad, Shakhimardan in Batken, and Kurshab-Sai in Osh - within the Karadarya-Syrdarya-Amudarya basin, covering a total irrigated area of 28,000 ha. It includes upgrading two headworks, 234 km of irrigation networks, and related hydraulic structures.
At the farm level, the project promotes climate-smart irrigation practices like improved water management, deep ripping, and laser land leveling, all following the World Bank’s Resilient Water Infrastructure Design Brief to minimize service disruptions from climate events.
Project Goals:
- Enhance access to climate-resilient water services in selected river basins.
- Strengthen local and national capacities for climate-resilient water management.
