Launch of Kara-Unkur Irrigation System Modernization

On November 14, 2025, a contract was officially signed in the Bazar-Korgon district of the Jalal-Abad region, launching the rehabilitation and modernization of the Kara-Unkur-Sai irrigation system. This project represents a strategically important stage in renewing the region's water infrastructure, which has been in operation since the 1950s and suffers from significant deterioration.

This sub-project is being implemented as part of the global Climate Resilient Water Services Project (CRWSP). Funding is provided by the International Development Association (IDA) with the support of the World Bank (Credit No. 7081-KG and Grant No. E009-KG. The project is supervised by the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Key Objectives and Scale of the Project:
• Modernization of the "Levaya Vetka" (Left Branch) main canal (15.78 km) and the "Jany-Jogorku-Akman" inter-farm canal.
• Increasing the hydraulic capacity of the Levaya Vetka canal to 18 m³/s.
• Monolithic concrete lining and reconstruction of hydraulic structures, including the construction of 19 road bridges and 10 pedestrian bridges.
• Improving water supply for 8,225 hectares of agricultural land served by several Water User Associations (WUAs).
The total contract value is over 853 million soms. Construction works are being carried out by a consortium of China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and Yellow River Engineering Consulting Co. (PRC). The project duration is 1,000 days. Currently, site mobilization, project registration, and a tree inventory within the canal corridor are underway.

United Group is taking an active part in the implementation of this strategically important project, acting as a sub-consultant. In partnership with the international consultant SU-YAPI Engineering and Consulting Inc., the company’s activities are focused on providing technical supervision and expert support.

United Group's work within the CRWSP framework is aimed at creating sustainable infrastructure that contributes to the economic development of the Jalal-Abad region and the entire agricultural sector of Kyrgyzstan.
