Contract Management Training Seminar Organized by Su-Yapi and United Group for the Water Resources Service under the CRWSP Project
As an important step towards enhancing the skills and competencies of its employees, the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic held a comprehensive two-day training program on July 4-5, 2024, in Bishkek. This initiative is part of the Climate-Resilient Water Services Project (CRWSP), financed by the World Bank, and is aimed at improving the contract management capabilities of ministry officials involved in World Bank-funded projects. This training follows a previous session held in Osh on June 26-28, 2024.
Su-Yapi in collaboration with United Group organized this training seminar for the Client, which brought together over 14 participants from various departments of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as members from other Project Implementation Units (PIUs) associated with different Ministry projects. The primary goal of the program was to inform and equip participants with the necessary skills for contract management, particularly under FIDIC contract terms, and to enhance their ability to prepare and evaluate tender documentation in accordance with World Bank procurement rules and procedures.
Irina Goncharova, a procurement expert from the World Bank, responsible for the procurement process under the CRWSP, participated in the training course and provided valuable insights and recommendations. The program was opened by U.T. Torogeldiev, Director of the CRWSP PIU. In his welcoming remarks, he emphasized the importance of the training course for the successful implementation of the CRWSP: “Considering that some procurement processes will be applied for the first time in the Kyrgyz Republic, this training is an important step towards achieving our goal of effectively and efficiently implementing the CRWSP.”
Participants of the two-day "Contract Management" course gained new knowledge through interactive sessions designed to provide practical experience and deepen their understanding of key aspects of contract management.
Topics discussed included FIDIC contract terms, tender documentation preparation, bid evaluation, and compliance with World Bank procurement guidelines.
